Holiday Handmade 2011

Via
Theres something about being in a room full of so many creative individuals and ideas that makes me want to grab a pair of scissors and can of paint and finally complete some of those pinterest projects that I've been putting off.

I've included the list of venders here in case you would like to check out more- almost all have an Etsy shop up and running
I walked away with this cute print from January Jones, a couple t-shirts

Of course I couldn't walk away without getting some goodies from the Cupcake truck conveniently parked right outside the building (Its like they know when I'm within a 5 mile radius). It actually makes frequent stops around the corner from my apartment which is in fact a very dangerous thing.

Garden of the Gods

Carrie and I decided that we were due a mini road trip so we packed our hiking gear, grabbed some granola, and headed over to Colorado Springs to visit her friend Bryan and be all-around tourists.  Bryan happened to be quite the coffee connoisseur, so we sipped on home-made expressos before venturing on to the Garden of the Gods. We never did end up hiking (due to extremely chilly winds) but we escaped the car long enough to snap a few pics and admire Pike's Peak off in the distance. Then back to Bryan's for more coffee (coconut milk included). I haven't been so caffeinated in a long time.
 Balancing Rock
Carrie deemed this "family portrait verging on 'visit Colorado' brochure ad"
Did I mention I popped a tire on the way there? Because it was right around a dangerous bend in the road a friendly lady cop offered to park behind us with her lights flashing until a tow truck could come. Miraculously people slowed down a bit when passing ;)

Denver Roller Dolls

Feeling inspired after a recent viewing of 'Whip It' Carrie and I decided to attend a local roller derby. For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, Game play consists of a series of short match ups ("jams") in which both teams designate a scoring player ("the jammer") who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team. The teams attempt to assist their own jammer while hindering the opposing jammer.
Because we're rapidly approaching Halloween each team was decked out in a different "costume", hence all the fake blood (It may be a contact sport, but its not that dangerous I swear). This particular match-up was zombies vs. monsters- We were rooting for our Denver Roller Dolls clad in green
So   I may have been just a little too inspired when putting together a Roller Derby outfit, But hey I  always like the  opportunity to dress up!

Girl Crush: Annie Clark of St. Vincent

My friend Shannon invited me along for a night of beautiful music at the Boulder Theatre this past Friday. To be honest I had only heard St Vincent's name being mentioned in some of my more musically-inclined circles before actually attending her concert, but since Annie Clark's Stellar performance, I've been listening to her on repeat She's tiny, yet can really shred on a guitar, writes quirky lyrics, and has cute style to boot! I highly suggest giving her a listen.

Georgetown in the Fall

This Saturday I ventured off to tiny Georgetown with a couple of lovely ladies to take part in a fall photo shoot. What we got instead was tons of SNOW! But we didn't let it deter our plans, our only change was brunch at the Happy Cooker Cafe in the place of an outdoor picnic. Its moments like the ones captured here that really reaffirm my decision to make the move to Colorado. I'm meeting so many creative girls who are loving life and in the same transitional stage as I am. Making new friends and exploring tiny mountain towns is in my opinion, the perfect way to spend a Saturday!

What if our legs really were these colors? As Becca pointed out, we'd be a very diverse group of friends
