Denver Roller Dolls

Feeling inspired after a recent viewing of 'Whip It' Carrie and I decided to attend a local roller derby. For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, Game play consists of a series of short match ups ("jams") in which both teams designate a scoring player ("the jammer") who scores points by lapping members of the opposing team. The teams attempt to assist their own jammer while hindering the opposing jammer.
Because we're rapidly approaching Halloween each team was decked out in a different "costume", hence all the fake blood (It may be a contact sport, but its not that dangerous I swear). This particular match-up was zombies vs. monsters- We were rooting for our Denver Roller Dolls clad in green
So   I may have been just a little too inspired when putting together a Roller Derby outfit, But hey I  always like the  opportunity to dress up!

Girl Crush: Annie Clark of St. Vincent

My friend Shannon invited me along for a night of beautiful music at the Boulder Theatre this past Friday. To be honest I had only heard St Vincent's name being mentioned in some of my more musically-inclined circles before actually attending her concert, but since Annie Clark's Stellar performance, I've been listening to her on repeat She's tiny, yet can really shred on a guitar, writes quirky lyrics, and has cute style to boot! I highly suggest giving her a listen.

Georgetown in the Fall

This Saturday I ventured off to tiny Georgetown with a couple of lovely ladies to take part in a fall photo shoot. What we got instead was tons of SNOW! But we didn't let it deter our plans, our only change was brunch at the Happy Cooker Cafe in the place of an outdoor picnic. Its moments like the ones captured here that really reaffirm my decision to make the move to Colorado. I'm meeting so many creative girls who are loving life and in the same transitional stage as I am. Making new friends and exploring tiny mountain towns is in my opinion, the perfect way to spend a Saturday!

What if our legs really were these colors? As Becca pointed out, we'd be a very diverse group of friends
Outfit Details:
Sailor dress- Thrifted and hemmed
Blue beret- Urban Outfitters
Dark purple tights- Target

Road Trippin

999 miles and about 7 cups of coffee later I have arrived in the mile high city. My little Honda was packed literally to the brim (shoes in the glove box, hangers tucked between the seat cushions, etc.) Theres something a bit daunting about having all of your worldly possessions together in one vehicle.

Along the way I stayed with my dear (and recently married!) friend Elise who now resides in Columbia, Missouri. There I got to know the amazing members of her dance company over a few Oatmeal Stouts at the Flat Branch Pub and Brewing Company.

The Amazing Dancers of the Missouri Contempory Ballet. Elise is in blue.
The following day I ventured on to Olathe, Kansas where my friend Jake now lives and works at Garmen. When figuring out our dinner plans for the night, I asked him to bring me somewhere unique to the area, and this is where we ended up:

A BBQ joint thats 80% gas station; better known as Oklahoma Joes. And yes I may have eaten more here than Jake and his two friends combined... The remaining 9 hours of my trip were spent listening to Stieg Larsson books on tape in an attempt to stay focused, doing yoga at various rest stops and grabbing a cup of jo whenever the mood struck.

I've finally arrived in Denver and am excited for whats to come!

Lovely to meet you

I'm quite new to the blogosphere, but after being inspired by so many of the creative and beautiful women (see blog love) out there I thought why not start my own lifestyle/travel/fashion blog? I have things to say after all! So this little blog came about as a means to document my wanderings and all the little things that inspire me on a daily basis.

My life currently has a superb cast of characters, but I have yet to figure out the plot. I'm planning on putting 4 states between myself and all of my loved ones when I make the move from West Michigan to Denver to live near my best friend Carrie. I think a little change will do me good :)
